Taylor, Nirenberg to face off in mayoral runoff debate

Debate to be livestreamed on KSAT.com from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday


SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor and District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg will take the stage Tuesday night in a mayoral runoff debate.

The debate, presented by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the KSAT 12 studios.

KSAT 12 News anchor Steve Spriester will moderate the debate, which will be livestreamed on KSAT.com.


The debate will include questions from the Hispanic Chamber and KSAT 12, opening statements, closing statements and possibly some questions via social media.

Taylor and Nirenberg earned the right to a runoff after neither candidate received 50 plus 1 percent of the vote in a crowded field of 14 candidates in the May 6 election.

Taylor got 41,788 votes, or 42 percent of the vote, compared to 36,887 votes, or 37 percent of the vote, for Nirenberg.

The runoff election will be held June 10.
