Pair accused of kidnapping, robbing pizza delivery driver on East Side

Phillip Pinkney, 20, Joe Martinez, 19, arrested

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County deputies arrested two men who are accused of kidnapping and robbing a pizza delivery driver late Tuesday night on the East Side, authorities said.

Phillip Pinkney, 20, and 19-year-old Joe Martinez were arrested Wednesday afternoon while they were getting a haircut.

Investigators said the two robbed the driver at gunpoint in the 7800 block of New World Drive about 11:15 p.m. Then they forced him into his car and drove him to Glen Mont Drive, dropped him off and drove away in his car, authorities said.

The driver then ran to a nearby family member’s house and called 911.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Habitual Defer Team picked up the case Wednesday morning and found the stolen vehicle outside a barber shop and arrested Pinkney and Martinez inside.

The two suspects have been charged with kidnapping and robbery.
