Teen accused of shooting 16-year-old girl arrested

Teen charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with deadly weapon

SAN ANTONIO – A teen accused of shooting a 16-year-old girl has been arrested.

Ezquiel Vela, 17, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The shooting happened Monday night on the city's far Northwest Side.

Police said the girl was hanging out with a group of teens when one of the boys, Vela, told her and another girl to get out of the car and then opened fire.

He hit one of them, but his gun jammed when he tried shooting at the other girl.

The girls only knew Vela by his nickname, "Shoota." They were able to identify him as the shooter in a photo lineup.
