Train hits, kills man west of downtown

SAN ANTONIO – A 30-year-old man was hit and killed by a train Friday, west of downtown.

Police said the man was running south on Zarzamora Street near Merida Street when he tried to cross some railroad tracks and beat a train that was traveling eastbound.

But the train hit him, police said.

The railroad crossing arms and signals were functioning when the fatality occurred.
