Texas Folklife Festival kicks off Friday

Festival will feature six stages

SAN ANTONIO – With the Texas Folklife Festival kicking off Friday, preparation for the weekend-long event has been going on all day Thursday.

The festival will feature more than 100 menu items and six stages with different performances.

The festival has been a San Antonio staple for 46 years.

"It's a tradition. People have their favorite foods that they will try. And they want to come back and see the same people. It's like a family reunion. So it's very special for San Antonians and for us,” said Jo Ann Andera, director of the Texas Folklife Festival.

Adult tickets are $15 at the gate or $12 if purchased in advance. Children’s tickets are $5. Kids 5 and under get in for free.
