According to police, four people had stolen car batteries from a storage shed from behind the store.

Police said they followed two vehicles, each with two people inside, using their helicopter and with the help of instructions from a dispatcher all across both the Northwest and West Side.

At one point, one of the vehicles, a green Honda Civic, started going the wrong way on the access road of Loop 410 near Bandera Road so police backed off the car. They did however manage to follow the second vehicle, a pickup truck, into a West Side neighborhood.

The two people inside that pickup truck bailed at San Patricio and Nuevo Leon, police said. Police said they ultimately lost the two suspects as well as the two in the Honda who also got away.

Police did recover the stolen batteries from the back of the pickup truck. There are about 20 batteries in all.
