More than 1,400 people without power after driver crashes into utility pole

Crews working to get downed power lines off highway

SAN ANTONIO – More than 1,400 people are without power after a driver crashed into a utility pole near Alamo Street and Interstate 35 Saturday afternoon.

Power lines fell onto Interstate 35 access roads and both directions of the highway, putting traffic at a standstill around 3:30 p.m..

Authorities turned off power to the lines to allow crews to remove them from the highway.
