Man arrested after stealing credit card, blackmailing victim

Jose Guadalupe Garcia, 27, has been taken into custody

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man they say stole a woman's credit card, used it, and then attempted to blackmail her for money.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Jose Guadalupe Garcia, 27, sent a text message to the victim offering to return her card and other items from her car if she paid him $20.

Police said Garcia then sent his girlfriend to make the exchange. But since he used his real name when texting with the victim, police were able to track him down.

Police verified he was the same man using the credit card through the store's surveillance video.
