Officer rescues woman from house fire

Fire was reported in 500 block of North Meadowlane Dr

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is in critical condition at an area hospital after being rescued from a burning home in Alamo Heights overnight, fire officials said Monday.

The fire was reported just before 11 p.m Sunday in the 500 block of North Meadowlane Drive, found not far from Rittiman Road and Austin Highway.

A police officer was first to arrive on scene and managed to pull the woman out of the home and began CPR. The woman was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Firefighters said the fire started in the back bedroom and was contained just the one house. A damage estimate however is not presently known.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
