Detention officer faces several charges after crashing vehicle while drunk, police say

Raymundo Rodriguez, 26, faces charges of DWI, resisting arrest

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio detention officer is facing several charges after he crashed his car into a utility pole while driving drunk and then tried to flee the scene, authorities said.

Raymundo Rodriguez, 26, was arrested just before 7 a.m. Friday after wrecking in the 1300 block of Southeast Military on the city's South Side.

According to a San Antonio Police Department report, Rodriguez made it 300 yards before officers caught him.

It took three officers to get Rodriguez into custody. He was combative and officers had to use a stun gun twice, according to police.

Rodriguez faces charges of DWI, resisting arrest and failure to stop and render aid.
