3 suspects accused of tying up children want separate trials

Porucha Phillips, Deandre Dorch, Cheryl Reed charged in child abuse case

SAN ANTONIO – Three people accused of tying up children with a dog leash and chains are requesting separate trials.

Deputies found two toddlers bound in a backyard in the 8100 block of Chipping Drive in Northeast Bexar County in May 2016.

One of the children was chained to the ground, and the other was tied to a door with a dog leash, sheriff's officials said.

Porucha Phillips, DeAndre Dorch and Cheryl Reed are charged with injury to a child -- serious bodily injury.

Phillips lived at the home with Dorch, her boyfriend. The two were looking after the children while their mother, Reed, was in California, officials said.
