San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said that a woman who works at the Motel 6 in the 100 block of North W.W. White Road got into an altercation with Dubose.

Minutes later, the woman's old boyfriend showed up, and the two men exchanged gunfire at very close range in the parking lot, McManus said.

Dubose was killed in the shootout.

The old boyfriend got away in what authorities described as a black Dodge Charger.
