Man wanted on 2 felony warrants leads police on half-hour chase

Chase lasted 30 minutes before stopping in West side neighborhood

Police say it's a coincidence they apprehended a man wanted on two felony warrants on Saturday night.

Officers started following the driver on the Southeast side because the car matched the description of a car involved in an East side shooting that occurred earlier in the evening.

When officers attempted to pull the driver over, he led them on a chase on Interstate 37, then on Highway 90, then through an West side neighborhood before coming to a stop at the corner of Ceralvo Street and South Hamilton Avenue where police arrested him.

Authorities said they do not believe the man was involved in the shooting, but believe he attempted to evade them because of his outstanding warrants.

In addition to the charges linked to his warrants, he will also be charged with evading arrest, police said.

No one was injured during the chase.
