Child snuck out of house unnoticed, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A toddler is dead after a drowning on Indian Sunrise on Friday night, police said.

The drowning happened in the 4100 block Indian Sunrise. Police were called shortly after 8 p.m.

On Saturday, officials identified the child as 1-year-old Arlynn Velez.

Police said the girl sneaked out of a house unnoticed and climbed a ladder to get into an above ground pool in the backyard.

Arlynn was found by family members, who said she wasn’t breathing. First responders performed CPR on the child and rushed her to the hospital, where she later died, police said.

Police said there were numerous people home at the time of the accident.
