A deputy accused of helping collect a drug debt for an inmate at the Bexar County Jail, told the convicted drug dealer "she loves him and that she would be there for him," according to arrest affidavits. Deputy Rita Alvarez, 31, was one of four people arrested Wednesday morning. || Tech Sgt. Jamie Elizabeth Hash began her military career in 2011 arming F-15 fighter jets as a man, James Edward Hash. Hash, a military manpower analyst at JBSA-Randolph Air Force Base, said she kept her secret buried throughout much of her life until she made a fateful decision. || A Houston-area state senator has proposed legislation in response to two San Antonio councilmen’s attempt to remove a Confederate statue from Travis Park. Senate Bill 112 would prevent the removal, altering or renaming of any historical statue of structure that has been on public ground for more than 40 years.

TUESDAY

A major accident has caused multiple road closures on the Southwest Side. SAPD said they believe the driver of a vehicle may have been driving erratically and purposefully hitting cars. Four people, two adults and two children, were taken for treatment Priority 1. || Three people were killed and three others were injured in a rollover Tuesday afternoon in South Bexar County. The victims killed were a child under the age of 3 and two women, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said. || A fire tore through a day care center Tuesday morning on the city's North Side. About 60 children and staff evacuated from Bright Kids Daycare Center in the 3900 block of Thousand Oaks. No injuries were reported.

MONDAY

Upon learning his son, from the Mexican state of Aguascalientes, was on board the deadly tractor-trailer that claimed 10 lives, a distraught father arrived in San Antonio from Denver last week. Jose de Jesus Delgado said doctors told him his 16-year-old son was in very grave condition. || Beginning Tuesday, guns will be a legal part of the college experience at community colleges across Texas. That includes Alamo College's five schools which includes, San Antonio College, Northwest Vista College, Northeast Lake View College, Palo Alto College and St. Phillip’s College. || A month after talks of moving a controversial monument out of Travis Park, there is now a formal request that may put a plan into motion. According to the request, the monument of a Confederate soldier would be moved to a location where it can be used in an educational context.

It’s getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes!

Not that anyone wants to see strangers in their bits and nothings, but when it is 105 degrees outside, what else have you got left to take off? It was so hot, the city opened cooling stations this weekend. Luckily, there is relief in sight! Rain chances go up by the end of the week and our temperatures could drop nearly 15 degrees. Can we get a hallelujah?

Somber day

Friends and relatives of 16 people killed a year ago Sunday when a hot air balloon crashed in Central Texas have marked the anniversary with a church service and memorial flowers. A few dozen people attended a church service Saturday, and then went to the site of the July 30, 2016, crash near Lockhart, about 30 miles south of Austin.

Just a touch of color

Because taupe is just so bland! The city will consider this week whether or not to add rainbow-themed crosswalks at the intersection of North Main Street and Evergreen Avenue, commonly referred to as “The Strip.”

Is it a boo or a bust? Video of a man's seemingly otherworldly encounter at a South Texas motel room is going viral, but some say the man who recorded his experience is pulling a fast one on more than 1 million people who watched the video.
