Father, daughter shot by single bullet in New Braunfels

Pair taken to SAMMC for treatment

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Police officers in New Braunfels arrived at the scene of a shooting Sunday afternoon and found a father and daughter who had been shot by the same bullet.

According to New Braunfels police spokesman David Ferguson, the 30-30 rifle discharged while the two were nearby.

Ferguson said the father was putting an ice chest into the back of the truck and his daughter was putting a phone in the pocket on the door when the rifle, which was on the floor, fired a round.

The man, 46, was hit in his hip. The girl, 17, was hit in her arm.

Both were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio for treatment.

Neither is believed to have life-threatening injuries.
