Man arrested for intoxication assault that injured 2

Louis Godines, 33, arrested Monday

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County deputies arrested a man who they said ran a red light and hit a car. Two people were taken to the hospital as a result.

Deputy Marin Mata, with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said the office's Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Louis Godines, 33, on Monday for intoxication assault.

Mata said Godines was involved in a crash that happened on July 30 that sent a man and woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mata said Godines was headed south on 281 at about 5 p.m. when he ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 281 and Loop 1604.

At the same time, a midsize vehicle was entering that intersection and Godines is accused of hitting that vehicle head-on.

"It sent his vehicle tumbling and flipping over several times," Mata said. "The vehicle that he impacted, it spinned several times, which landed in the middle of the main lanes."

Investigators believes Godines was under the influence. For now, he is charged with one count of intoxication assault.

Mata said the woman who was hurt is still in the hospital. He did not have an update on the man who was also injured.
