Police arrest man accused of shooting brother-in-law

Ruben Gonzalez, Jr., charged with aggravated assault

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting on the West Side back in June which left a man wounded.

Police believe Ruben Gonzalez, Jr., 33, pulled the trigger, wounding his brother-in-law.

Officers found Juan Flores, 25, in the area of S. Trinity and S. Laredo on June 15.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police received an anonymous tip about the shooting and then found Flores wounded.

The affidavit said Flores told officers he was married to Gonzalez' sister but had broken up with her. He said Gonzalez blames him for stabbing her and killing their father.

Flores told police he was walking down the street in June when he noticed Gonzalez drive past him. He said Gonzalez then got out of his car, chased him with a gun to an underpass, shot and then pistol whipped him, the affidavit said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gonzalez the following day.

Police caught up with him and arrested him Monday on a charge of aggravated assault.
