Texas emergency management officials said Monday afternoon that at least 60 deaths are now attributed to Harvey, The Associated Press reported.

Most deaths happened when people were caught in flash floods or flooded roadways as the storm pummeled several counties with feet of rain. The AP reported that officials are also taking into account those who died from indirect complications of Harvey, including trees falling and power outages that inhibited equipment used by elderly people.
