Texas lottery sets new billion-dollar sales record

Lottery made huge contribution to Texas public schools, veterans

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas lottery set a new $5.077 billion sales record for the fiscal year 2017.

A total contribution of $1.313 billion was made to Texas public schools and $16.2 million was given to Texas veterans based on lottery sales for 2017.

“This is the seventh consecutive year that the Texas Lottery has reached record sales,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery. “Due to the amazing work of our staff, retailers and our trusted vendor partners, the Texas Lottery was able to offset the lack of record jackpots with record-setting scratch ticket sales, which led to outstanding sales and revenue results.”

Scratch ticket sales for fiscal year 2017 were the highest in Texas Lottery history with $3.94 billion.

This is the 14th consecutive year the Texas Lottery has generated more than $1 billion in revenue for the Lone Star State.
