SAPD: East Side home shot at more than 10 times overnight

Shooting occurred before 4:30 a.m. in 4400 block of Hampstead St

SAN ANTONIO – An investigation is underway after an East Side home was shot at more than ten times overnight, San Antonio police said Friday.

SAPD received the call just before 4:30 a.m. about shots being fired in the 4400 block of Hampstead Street, found not far from South W. W. White Road.

Police said they arrived within minutes and found that someone had approached from the alley behind the home and fired at least ten shots at the house.

The man who lives at the home got into his car and went out to see if he could locate the person or persons responsible but by the time he got back, police had already arrived.

Police said they have not made any arrests. They did spend some time in the backyard, presumably to collect evidence.

The alley is not one where cars can drive up to so the shooter or shooters had to have walked there, police said.

Officials did say that they probably had a car nearby though.

No one inside the home was hit.
