Man with 2 kids in car arrested after police discovered 22 lbs of pot, $18K cash

CONVERSE, Texas – A man with two children in his car was arrested over the weekend when officers discovered more than 20 pounds of pot and almost $20,000 in cash inside his car.

Converse Police Chief Fidel Villegas said a patrol officer pulled over the white Lexus on FM 1516 around 5:30 p.m. Saturday for a registration violation.

Two children were also inside the vehicle at the time.

The officer said he noticed the smell of marijuana, and a police K-9 was brought to the scene and also picked up on the scent.

Police found 22 pounds of pot and $18,260 in the vehicle.

Thomas Andershock Jr., 36, was arrested and taken to the Bexar County Jail.

The two children were released to the custody of family members.

In a post on Facebook, the department said the money would go to its seizure fund.
