Man critically wounded in shooting at West Side business

Gunman on loose, victim was opening business in 3100 block of Growdon Road

SAN ANTONIO – A 50-year-old man was shot while opening up a business early Friday on the city's West Side.

Police said the man, a worker for Quick Response Towing and Recovery, was opening the gate of the business around 3 a.m. in the 3100 block of Growdon Road when someone came out of nowhere and shot him in the chest.

The shooter, a man believed to be in his 40s or 50s, left the scene and the victim flagged down a passing tow truck driver, who called for help. The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the victim and shooter know each other and it's possible there is bad blood between the two.
