SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Air National Guard will conduct an active shooter training exercise at Joint Base San Antonio - Lackland on Sunday.

Those who live in the area of the base may hear loud simulated gunfire.

"Surrounding neighborhoods and those traveling on Highway 90 may hear loud simulated gunfire, but should not be alarmed," a release from the base said. "The exercise will take place from approximately 1 p.m. until 3 p.m."

The exercise will consist of different active shooter situations. The exercise is to ensure the base is prepared in the event of a real-world active shooter situation.
