SAPD: Woman arrested, man on the run after stealing from Walmart, leading police on chase

SAN ANTONIO – Police are looking for a man who stole from a Walmart, showed loss prevention workers a gun when confronted about the stolen items and led police on a chase Sunday morning.

Police said the man took items from shelves at a Walmart on Southeast Military Drive and put them into plastic bags.

When the suspect tried to leave the store, he was confronted by loss prevention officers. Sergeant Darryl Rooks said the man showed employees a handgun in his waistband and told them he didn't want to have use the gun, prompting the employees to back off.

The suspect ran to the parking lot and got into a car with a woman and drove away.

An officer spotted the pair driving on Southcross and Presa and tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop and led police on a chase.

The chase ended when the driver went through an alley way on Offer Street and hit a water main.

Both the man and woman ran from the car after the crash. Police caught the woman and treated her for a cut she suffered while jumping a fence. She was taken in for questioning.

The man remains at large.
