Arson investigators are looking into what caused the fire, but San Antonio Fire Department spokesperson Joe Arrington used the fire as a platform to remind people about home heating safety now that temperatures are dropping.

"With the colder weather coming, just to be smart about how you're heating your home," Arrington said. "Never, ever use your stove to heat your home. if you're using space heaters, keep things at least three feet away from space heaters when you're using them."

Arrington advised people to turn off space heaters when not at home and to clean chimneys prior to using them.

People should also test their smoke alarms.
