Southwest to launch service from SAT to Ft. Lauderdale, Oakland

Service begins in July 2018

SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio and Southwest Airlines announced Thursday the airline will add two new cities it will service out of San Antonio International Airport.

Service to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Oakland, California, will begin on July 8, 2018.

“Our Air Service Development Plan indicated that 34 percent of large corporation travel was to the West Coast,” stated Russ Handy, aviation director for the city of San Antonio.

The addition of Ft. Lauderdale will allow easier connections for to the Caribbean and other international destinations, the city said.

With the addition of the cities, SAT will service 43 domestic and international cities.
