Officers found the woman with a gunshot wound to her chest and told them that she had been at the Corona Bar where she ran into one of her brother's friends whose name she didn't know.

The victim said she danced with Rodriguez before exchanging phone numbers and leaving. She told police he began to text her, before eventually agreeing to meet. During their encounter, she said she was talking to Rodriguez in the parking lot when he asked her to reach into his car and grab his cell phone.

When she refused, Rodriguez pulled out a gun and forced her into the car before driving her to an alley near the 3100 block of West Commerce where he attempted to rape her.

The woman said she asked him why he was doing it and he told her that it was because her brother had stolen a woman from him.

A relative later helped her figure out who he was by searching Facebook. She also identified Rodriguez in a photo lineup, police said.
