Driver of truck strikes West Side home after crashing

No one injured

SAN ANTONIO – A two-truck accident on the West Side ended with one of them halfway inside a house.

The crash happened at the intersection of San Fernando and South Trinity streets.

A large hole was left in the home after one of the trucks was removed Saturday afternoon.

Just before 2:30 p.m., the San Antonio Fire Department said a white Ford F-150 was westbound on San Fernando as a dark gray Ford F-150 was southbound on South Trinity. The two pickups collided at the intersection, sending the white Ford into a house on the corner.

Neither driver was hurt nor was anyone else in the vehicles.

Fire crews said there were two people in the house at the time, but they were in a back room during the crash and also were unharmed.

It was nearly an hour before tow trucks got to the scene to remove the truck from the house. Crews wanted to make sure the house was safe, so inspectors were called in to determine if it is structurally sound.

The 83-year-old driver of the white Ford said he’s never been in an accident before.

“It didn't scare me. I was just worried about my truck,” Don Casey said. “It was actually just an accident.”

Investigators are still trying to determine who is at fault, so neither of the drivers have been cited.
