German man mistakes zucchini for WWII-era bomb

A German man who alerted authorities to a suspected World War II-era bomb later found the object to be a zucchini.

Police responded to the call made by the 81-year-old Bretten man Thursday morning, determining "the object, which really did look very like a bomb," was an 11-pound zucchini. The Associated Press reports officials believed someone threw the vegetable over a hedge and into a garden.

Unexploded wartime bombs are found periodically in Germany, which must be defused safely by authorities.
