Fans asked to wear white for Friday night's game

FLORESVILLE, Texas – Fans attending Friday night's football game between Floresville and Southside are being asked to wear white to honor the Sutherland Springs church shooting victims.

According to the Floresville Independent School District Facebook page, superintendents from both districts want fans to spread the message of hope.

The game will decide the District 29-5A championship, but district officials want the competition to be met with "unity, solidarity, grief and love."

Floresville ISD superintendent Sherri Bays said she appreciates the support people have shown for the students, families and communities affected by the tragedy.

"As we move forward with our children in the days to come, it is comforting to see and feel the support that surrounds us," she said. "Standing together strengthens us. The attendance and spirit of love means more to us than you may ever know."

Southside ISD superintendent Mark Eads echoed Bays' sentiments.
