SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Food Bank and Rackspace sent more than 1,500 families home with Thanksgiving meals Saturday morning during the largest Thanksgiving holiday food distribution event in San Antonio.
More than 250 volunteers helped distribute meals to families in the community for the 11th annual “Fill a Box and Feed a Family Holiday Food Drive."
A long line of cars formed outside of the Rackspace Headquarters off Interstate 35 and Walzem around 8 a.m. for the event.
The boxes came complete with a frozen turkey, holiday fixings and fresh produce.
Allie Patterson, a community affairs specialist for Rack Gives Back, said the event was made possible through fundraising efforts from Rackspace staff.
Rackspace estimates it has fed 11,000 families since the event began 11 years ago.
