2 children hospitalized after being rescued from burning home

Kids are 7, 10 years old

SAN ANTONIO – Two children were hospitalized Sunday morning after firefighters pulled them from their burning home. 

The San Antonio Fire Department received a call about smoke coming from the garage of the home in the 13900 block of South Village Drive around 2:50 a.m.

When crews arrived on the scene, two people had managed to safely escape. They told firefighters the two children were still inside when the flames started. 

Firefighters rescued a 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, officials. Both of the children were taken to University Hospital from smoke inhalation and are currently in critical condition.  

Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine what caused the fire. Investigators said the home is a total loss.
