SAN ANTONIO – Friday marked the beginning of the 28th annual International Peace Market where international and local artists sell authentic, homemade goods.
The International Peace Market, otherwise known as the Mercado De Paz, is opened Friday at the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center at 922 San Pedro Ave.
The market opened on one of the of the busiest corporate shopping days of the year as an alternative to Black Friday shopping.
This year, the market will feature artists from Oaxaca who were impacted by recent earthquakes in Mexico.
Shoppers can explore rugs, pottery, textiles, hand-embroidered clothing, paintings, sculptures and more. Shoppers will also be able to speak directly with artists who are using their crafts to rebuild their communities following the tragic earthquakes.
The shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
