Medical Examiner identifies speeding driver killed in overnight rollover

34-year-old man was speeding, lost control of vehicle, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A 34-year-old man was killed in an overnight rollover crash after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole on the city’s northeast side.

The San Antonio Police Department said Luis Ramirez was heading west on Thousand Oaks around 10:15 p.m. Thursday night when he jumped the curb, hitting a telephone pole before flipping over at the intersection of Thousand Oaks and Jones Maltsberger.

The driver was still inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, SAPD said.

SAPD said speeding played a part in the unidentified man’s death, and officials are still looking into other possible factors that may have led to the deadly rollover crash.
