Suspect arrested in string of robberies at several area dollar stores

Police: Andrew Ward, 30, confessed to at least 5 robberies

SAN ANTONIO – Police have made an arrest in a string of robberies at area Dollar General and Family Dollar stores.

San Antonio police said 30-year-old Andrew Ward confessed to at least five robberies.

As he walked out of the police station to be transferred, however, he proclaimed his innocence.

Detectives said Ward would put his hand in his jacket, telling clerks he had a weapon, and would demand money.

Authorities believe Ward may have been involved in more robberies. The investigation is ongoing.
