Police investigate two overnight hit-and-run accidents

2 people taken to hospitals

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating two separate hit-and-run crashes that sent two people to the hospital.

The first crash happened just before midnight Saturday when an 81-year-old man tried crossing the intersection of Rigsby Avenue and Bonair Drive on the city's East side, police said.

The driver of a black sedan collided with him and didn't stop to help. Police said the man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is expected to recover.

About two hours later, police said a woman was leaving a bar in the 800 block of Cincinnati Avenue. When she opened the door to her vehicle, the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck sideswiped the vehicle and hit her.

Police said a witness followed the driver and wrote down the license plate number. Police linked it to a home nearby the scene.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to University Hospital, police said.

Police are investigating both collisions.
