Students design new VIA bus shelter concepts

SAISD, SSA team up on project

SAN ANTONIO – VIA rolled out new bus shelter concepts – designed by local children – on Monday.

It's part of VIA's "KIDS" program, which is short for "kids initiating design solutions."

The transit company teamed up with students from the Southwest School of Art to help turn the concepts into reality.

The kids, who are elementary school students in the San Antonio Independent School District, each gave a presentation on their project.

The kids' program fosters an appreciation of the theory and practice of architecture.

Models of the bus shelters are on display at the VIA Villa lobby on North Medina Street.
