Huge fire destroys home west of downtown

Damage to home in 2100 block of West Travis estimated at $100,000

SAN ANTONIO – A huge fire destroyed an old two-story home Monday afternoon west of downtown.

The fire was reported around 4:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of West Travis, where firefighters found the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were concerned about the big blaze spreading to neighboring homes. Only one other home was slightly damaged, fire officials said.

The fire took about 30 minutes to put out, although firefighters stayed to put out hot spots.

Damage was estimated at $100,000. 

Three pets killed in house fire on NW Side

The homeowner was out of town. No injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
