Convicted rapist wanted for not reporting to law enforcement for 8 years

Froilan Ybarra, 53, accused of violating conditions of sex offender registration

SAN ANTONIO – A convicted sex offender who is supposed to report his address to law enforcement officials is facing a new charge for failing to do that for years.

Froilan Ybarra, 53, was convicted in 2004 of sexually assaulting a 33-year-old woman. He was sentenced to 10 years' probation. Ybarra was also ordered to register as a sex offender annually for life.

The state's sex offender registry website shows Ybarra last reported to the San Antonio Police Department in 2009. He has since been indicted in Bexar County for failing to comply with the sex offender registration conditions and absconding from supervision.

Ybarra was first featured as a fugitive on KSAT-12 in July. At the time, authorities said he has lived on the East Side of San Antonio.

Ybarra is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information on Ybarra's whereabouts, call the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 210-657-8500.
