Man accused of strangling girlfriend arrested

Paulo Gonzalez Chavez facing murder charge

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of strangling his girlfriend is behind bars, officials said.

Paulo Gonzalez Chavez is facing a murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Idalia Celedon-Becerra.

Investigators said they found the woman’s body Monday. They said she was covered with a blanket and propped up against a bed at a home on Morales Street, which is west of downtown near North Zarzamora Street.

San Antonio police said they found a critical piece of evidence next to the victim’s body.

“They did find a note next to her body, which appears to have been written by the actor in this case,” said Sgt. Michelle Ramos, with the San Antonio Police Department.

Investigators said Chavez and Celedon-Becerra had been dating for years.
