SAFD battle three fires overnight

Arson investigators looking into causes

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters had their hands full Saturday night battling three fires across the city.

The first report of flames came in just after 10 p.m. When firefighter arrived in the 1300 block of West Thompson Place, smoke and fire was coming out of one bedroom. Everyone inside was able to safely escape. According to investigators, the fire was caused by electrical issues.

Around 11:45 p.m. firefighters were called to a two-story home in the 5700 block of Country Sun Drive. The flames were contained to the first floor and everyone inside was able to get out safely, SAPD said.

About five minutes later, a grass fire spread to an abandoned home in the 4100 block of I-10 East. The flames were in full bloom when crews arrived. According to firefighters, there were no fire hydrants nearby so they had to truck water to the location. It took crews about 45 minutes to put out the fire.

Arson investigators were called in to investigate the cause of the last two fires.
