Man who set fire to 2 cars sentenced to 5 years behind bars

SAN MARCOS – A San Marcos man who set fire to two cars in the Spring of 2016 was sentenced to five years in prison.

Paul Lawrence Mussler, 44, pled guilty to arson on Dec. 11.

He was indicted in May 2016 after he set fire to a car at the Palazzo Apartments in the 1000 block of Wonder World Drive on April 20, 2016.

The San Marcos Fire Department and San Marcos Police Department responded to the car fire and found two unoccupied cars -- a Volkswagen and a pickup truck -- in flames. Both cars sustained moderate damage.
The San Marcos Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire and determined it was intentionally set. Mussler was identified as a suspect and eventual pled guilty to the charge.
Arson is second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
