Man wounded in drive-by shooting just west of downtown

Shooter sped off in Dodge Charger, police say

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are trying to find out who is responsible for a drive-by shooting that left a man wounded and in an area hospital.

The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Hazel Street, just west of downtown.

Officers found the victim, a man in his late 30s or early 40s, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest.

They said he was in serious condition when he was rushed to a hospital by ambulance.

Witnesses told investigators the shooter had a bald head and left the scene in a Dodge Charger.

Police did not say right away what motivated the shooting or whether the victim actually was the intended target.
