SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said they conducted an early morning narcotics operation at an apartment building just west of downtown on Tuesday, resulting in 8 arrests.
Multiple agencies were mentioned as part of the operation that occurred at a building located on West Houston Street and North Frio Street near the VIA Centro Plaza bus station.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the operation began back in early February after undercover officers obtained information suggesting that an organized drug ring was dealing from the building.
McManus said the people taken into custody are charged with distributing cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana and synthetic marijuana. He also cited 32 defendants in total with 55 outstanding warrants.
McManus said some of the people arrested were discovered possessing weapons and that one of the people was a convicted sex offender who had a charge of indecency with a child.
SAPD said they received assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, VIA Transit Police, and SWAT as well as officers on bicycles. Haven for Hope also contributed as well.
