Motorcyclist killed, officer in stable condition

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio Police officer was hit by a truck while working scene of fatal accident on the South Side Saturday night, authorities said.

According to Police, the 22-year veteran of the force was blocking traffic near the scene of a motorcycle accident near Loop 410 and Somerset Road when a truck hit her. She was taken to University Hospital with "incapacitating injuries."

Police said the driver, 55-year-old Jesus Gonzalez Rodriguez, was intoxicated and had two children in the truck with him. He was arrested for intoxication assault of a peace officer and endangering a child.

The initial collision the officer was dispatched to happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. Police said a driver hit a man on a motorcycle.

The victim was taken to University Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police said they are investigating to determine whether the person behind the wheel in that crash was under the influence.

The driver who hit the motorcyclist is in custody, police said.
