Off-duty SAPD officer arrested, charged with DWI

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer has been arrested, accused of driving while intoxicated.

55-year-old Rodney Tubergen was arrested around 3 a.m. in the 7200 block of North Loop 1604.

According to preliminary arrest information Tubergen had a blood alcohol level above .15 during his arrest.

The San Antonio Police Department confirmed to KSAT 12 Monday morning that Tubergen is in fact an officer with the SAPD and released the following statement:

“SAPD Officer Rodney Tubergen was arrested by the San Antonio Police Department this morning, June 11, 2018 at 0249 hrs. at Lookout Rd. and Loop 1604 E. for DWI (case #18-122112).  Officer Tubergen has been with the Department 27 years and will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and administrative investigation.” 

City records show that Tubergen has worked for SAPD since 1989.
