SAN ANTONIO – Educators in the San Antonio Independent School District were awarded a record number of grants to promote student engagement and improve academic performance, the district announced Wednesday.
Educators applied for a variety of grants that will allow for the purchase of innovative teaching tools and to create intriguing projects for students. The district said 75 grants totaling more than $175,000 were awarded.

According to a news release, teachers applied for grants in the spring and SAISD Foundation’s Innovative Grants Program began awarding them Wednesday.
Teachers will continue to be notified of whether they received a grant through August.
The SAISD Foundation said it has awarded more than 800 grants to educators in the last five years.
