Bexar County commissioners approve property tax rate cut

Tax cut for new fiscal year

SAN ANTONIO – The property tax rate in Bexar County is being cut for the third consecutive year.

County commissioners approved the cut Friday. This will be for the new fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.

The cap for the new rate is just over 30 cents. That's about three-thousandths of a cent lower than the current rate.

County commissioners looked over a preliminary draft of the 2018-2019 budget Friday. Only the tax rate was approved.

County commissioners will continue working on the budget and hold public hearings over the next few weeks. The budget is expected to be adopted by Sept. 11.
