Authorities ID man who died during fight with woman on East Side

Eddie Hodges Jr., 59, was pronounced dead early Friday morning

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified the man who died during an altercation with a woman on the East Side.

Eddie Hodges Jr., 59, was pronounced dead early Friday morning.

San Antonio police responded to the altercation just before 1 a.m. on North Onslow Street near the AT&T Center.

Officers were flagged down by the woman who said she got into a fight with Hodges.

Police believe Hodges may have suffered a medical episode during the altercation, but an exact cause of death has not been released.

An initial police report said SAPD officers responded to the listed location for an assault in progress.

An investigation into what occurred is ongoing, and no charges have been filed against the woman involved.
